IELTS examination is based
on four parameters of the English language or any other language. Those
parameters are reading, writing, listening and speaking. Here we are going to
discuss the test format of the listening test in detail. The best IELTS coaching in Dwarka is
going to highlight everything related to this test whether it is related to
time or quality of questions or the patterns. All the details regarding the
test will be mentioned in two parts. The first part of the blog will tell you
the description of the listening test along with the marking. The second part
will tell you all the types of tasks given and the listening test.
You will have to listen to
four recordings of English speakers who are native. You need to carefully
listen to these recordings because you will have to answer multiple questions
based on these recordings. Here are the details of the recordings:
1. First recording: It is
going to be a conversation between two persons who are talking about everyday
life matters.
2. Second recording: It can
be a monologue a speech about any topic locally, nationally or Internationally.
3. Third recording: It can be
a piece of correspondence in a group of people in the context of training or
education.
4. Fourth recording: It can
be related to academics or a session of a University lecture.
Some important points that
are going to be covered in the description are
1. Format of paper
2. Time allotted
3. Number of questions
4. Types of the task (will be
discussed in the next blog)
5. Answering
6. Marking
There are four recordings
as mentioned above. All these four recordings make four parts of the listening
test. You will listen to One audio recording and answer the questions related
to it before listening to the second recording. The second audio will be
followed by the questions related to it and then you will listen to the third
recording and so on. These four recordings are called the four parts in the
terminology of the IELTS examination. You can listen to the accented voice of a
native from Canada, America, New Zealand, Australia, and the United Kingdom.
You will be given the time
of half an hour or 30 minutes along with 10 minutes of transfer time. You need
to solve all the questions in these 40 minutes in total. The transfer time is
the time taken by the students to mark their answers on a separate answer sheet
from the question paper. Students often make a lot of mistakes therefore, a
separate answer sheet was introduced so that they don't commit any mistakes and
get penalised.
You are given the marks by
the markers who half the certificates. These markers need to make sure about
their reliability. When your answer sheets are marked they are sent to
Cambridge Assessment English for analysis further. I hope this blog has helped
you in understanding about listening test in detail, the rest of the
information about the types of the tasks along with the conversion of Band
score will be e explained tomorrow by the IELTS coaching Dwarka.
